Penrose access improvements open and in use - officially !

It's always a good feeling when a plan comes together, even when there is more work to be done. As mentioned before on the blog, we recently completed the 2nd phase of our plans to provide a good quality access route from Helston all the way to Loe Pool.

Over the last few years wev'e been listening to people who use this historic Helston Drive route, and whether they walk, cycle, push a pram or use a wheelchair it's become clear how valuable this route is to the local community.

With another 600 metres on new surface completed, we celebrated reaching beyond the half way mark with an official opening by Helston Town Cllr Sue Swift, in the company of individuals and groups who have been involved in the work. This included members of the local groups who kindly donated the new benches along the route, the Helston Stroke Society and the Helston MS group whose support is really appreciated.

Feedback has been really positive, the work is helping people get out to explore and enjoy the delights of Penrose this Spring, and we are now working away behind the scenes to try and raise funds and support for the next phase - getting us ever closer to our target.

Thanks to everyone who came along to celebrate and whose support and encouragement has helped throughout,in particular to Enid and Gerald Johns,Geoff Squib and everyone at Discover Magazine, Sue Swift and Dennis and Mary Harry.

If you get the chance come out and test the route for yourself, and here's looking forward to celebrating the completion of another section in the not too distant future !

Mike
