Working Holidays at Penrose

In July and August we had 4 working holidays come and stay at the basecamp at Chyvarloe to work with the Penrose wardens. The holidays consisted of a week of learning countryside skills and included activities such as Cornish hedge laying, fencing, step building and maintaining footpaths and hedges.

The working holidays have 12 places for volunteers and are a great way of introducing visitors to the every day work of our wardening teams, our properties and are a great opportunity to meet new and old friends. This summer we had volunteers from all over the UK as well as France, Sweden, Switzerland and Germany.

In their spare time the holiday volunteers went kayaking with one of our ambassador businesses, visited the theatre and other NT properties including St Michaels Mount, and explored the Lizard coastline.

If you're interested in coming along on a working holiday see the webpages: www.nationaltrust.org.uk/workingholiday
